Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has eased fears that Dani Carvajal could have picked up an injury against Alaves, in what was the only sour note in a thumping 5-0 victory. The 32-year-old limped off after a challenge in the second half, but it seems the injury was not muscle-related.

Of course Ancelotti has already cast doubt on the fitness of Aurelien Tchouameni, who picked up an injury against Bayern Munich in his foot. However he told Diario AS that he was not worried about Carvajal’s status.

“Nothing, it’s a stamp. [We’ll] get in the right dynamic, minutes for those who have not played. And I am convinced that we will be at our best on the first [of June].”

Recent weeks have seen plenty of praise directed towards the Italian, and he was informed that this was Real Madrid’s 20th clean sheet of the season.

“It is a very significant fact that rewards collective work. Much of this team’s success is there.”

And went on to declare it the finest La Liga campaign of the five that he has taken charge of.

“Yes, without a doubt, it is my best Liga. We have won the league on merit. They waited for us to drop off, and there has not been one. Now we have to continue.”

Ancelotti has the chance to become the manager with the most Champions League wins in history if he is successful at Wembley on the first of June. It would also be his third Champions League in five seasons at Real Madrid across two spells, and Los Blancos’ sixth in 11 years – a run that he started off back in 2014.
